Young Adults

Young Adults, we know you're in a unique phase of life. Ages 18-23 are all about transition. You're experiencing the world in brand new ways, and you're beginning to solidify exactly what you believe and who you want to be. The decisions you're making during these years are setting the trajectory for the rest of your life, and yet so much of life is transitory that it can be hard to find anchor points in this season. It's easy to let Jesus and your faith fall by the wayside during this time.

We want to be an anchor point for you.

HVC Young Adults is all about coming alongside you as you navigate your college-age years. We want to provide a space for you to connect, for you to wrestle with big questions of life and faith, and to continually point you back to Jesus, who promises to be the anchor for your soul.

No matter where you find yourself on your faith journey – curious, skeptical, just here for the fun or if you’re all in - there's a place for you at HVC! You are loved, you belong here, and you're going to make an impact on the world around you. Jesus really does change everything, and we're excited to explore what it truly means to follow Him during your young adult years together.

WEEKLY Experience

HVC Young Adults meets weekly throughout the summer on Tuesdays from 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm at Casey Horst's house. Our 2019 summer study is on Apologetics, based on the book "I Don't Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist" by Norman L. Geiser and Frank Turek. Each week we pick a different "big life question" and have a engaging conversation about it. We're discussing everything from the intersection of faith and science, to the historicity of the Bible, to whether or not it's logical to believe in miracles. We don't expect to all agree - in fact, we like it when we don't! However it is our goal to help each other disagree intelligently and respectfully. We believe that there are intelligent, rational, thoughtful reasons to believe that Jesus, the Christian faith, and the stories found in Scripture are true. It is our desire to help equip you to identify your own worldview and help you navigate the plethora of others out there. Friends (from Christian or different faith backgrounds!) are always welcome.

HVC Young Adults will meet from Tuesday, May 28th through Tuesday, August 13th.

First Time Guests

HVC Young Adults meets at Casey Horst's house - email Katie for the address. Park in the driveway, and let yourself into the house! Katie Calawa, Josh Ranck, and Casey Horst (our three fearless leaders!) are excited to meet you.

If weather permits, we'll be enjoying snacks out on the back deck. The first fifteen minutes or so are casual, and a great chance to get to know others who are there.  We'll get started shortly after that by watching a video introducing our topic question for the night. After the video we'll have an engaging discussion on the topic - you can jump right in sharing what you know or have experienced, or you can sit back and process what others are sharing. At the end of the night we'll be sure to connect with you so you can get access to all the information about our upcoming meetings and events.
