A venue where Biblical Truth Connects…
One of our seven Core Values is “Biblical Truth that Connects.” We don’t merely want to autopsy God’s Word so that we only pursue a cold preciseness to our understanding, we want to teach and be taught in a way that helps us see Jesus. After all the Bible says, “Jesus is the Word in the flesh.” Therefore, we try to teach in a way that connects us to God, to each other, and to the world. With this in mind we present our Sunday morning Adult education venue called, “The Hub.”
Current Series through January 29th
The gavel slammed down, the sound echoed through the courtroom… The Judge pronounced the word, “guilty.” Then in stunned silence the crowded courtroom watched as the Judge stood up, removed his cloak, and walked down to face the one on which he just passed judgment. An invitation was extended and those gathered heard the Judge invite the acquitted to come home with him and be a member of his family.
Shocking. Scandalous. Love.
Yet, that is what God has done for us in Christ! “God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.” (Ephesians 1:5 NLT). This is the “Good News”, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and it should profoundly change us, as well as, give us fresh insights into how God views orphans, “Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress…” (James 1:27 NLT).
Join us at the Hub, 10:45am Sunday mornings beginning January 15th, for a 3 week study on adoption we’re calling “Orphanology”.
Next 3-week series starting February 12th:
“From Oprah to Choprah”
Does our faith have a thoughtful, caring response to those who say there is no truths or many truths?
“Hey, it doesn’t matter what you really believe as long as you sincerely believe it… besides all beliefs are just different paths up the same mountain.”
We’ve all heard something like that either in a personal conversation or broadcast via our media into the culture. Does our faith have a thoughtful, caring, yet truth-filled response?
This course includes:
- Feb. 12: How does Christianity compare to other worldviews as measured against the four questions of life: origin, meaning, morality and destiny?
- Feb 19: Will feature a recent lecture delivered by Christian Apologist Ravi Zacharias to a standing-room only audience at Yale
- Feb. 26: Q+A session from the Yale lecture, and a Q+A with HVC members on real life examples.
Questions addressed include:
- Does Christianity require total commitment?
- Must Christ be Divine?
- If Jesus is “the only way”, what about those who don’t know?
Taught by Stephan Koch, this 3 week series will invite questions and discussion!
