Our Story…so far…
Hunt Valley Church began in the spring of 1990 when a dozen people planned a meeting in a living room to pray and plan for a new church in this area, and nearly 100 people showed up!
Within weeks 173 people began meeting for services, at first bouncing around like nomads from one location to another. Despite the difficulties, within 4 months the church had formally organized itself with over 200 members.
In June 1992 Frank Boswell arrived from Austin, Texas, bringing a fresh vision and strategy.
First step was to develop a more contemporary approach with a change in the style of worship. Next was to relocate the church to an office building behind the Marriott Hotel, which would serve as home for the next five years.
Although the church already owned 23 beautiful acres of land in our current location, the next years were devoted to building staff and putting the Christian way of life into practice through various ministries, particularly missions trips, holiday food baskets for the poor, and restoring old row homes in Sandtown in Baltimore. Only after ministry was growing, did the church turn its attention to building out the property which opened in March, 1998.
In 2007, we built a place for ministry and community to happen called “The Point.” This multi-purpose facility opened on Gilroy Road (just over the bridge from the church building!)
Throughout, guests have continued to find HVC to be a warm and welcoming place. A place that feels like coming “home.” (So we’re told…)
19 years, with hearts full of gratitude for what God has accomplished, cause us to look ahead with hope! We are committed to always being Christ’s church, advancing His message and ministry. Our cornerstone says it all, “God is the Builder of Everything.”
