What is New Life Furniture Warehouse?
The New Life Furniture Warehouse (NLFW) is a community services ministry of Hunt Valley Presbyterian Church. We provide gently used furniture to needy families and individuals in and around the Baltimore area, primarily through referrals from community service and crises agencies.
We are a community of believers who are serious about Christ’s instruction to “Love your neighbor”, and believe that our neighbors extend far beyond next door.
Who does NLFW Serve?
Since 2001 we have assisted approximately 100 families and individuals each year, and are hoping to grow that number exponentially with your help! We seek to partner with agencies that specialize in community service and crises management in order to provide a basic need – furniture and house-wares – to families and individuals that are starting over with little or nothing. Economic conditions are accelerating the number of people in our community who are in need of this type of assistance.
What is required of agencies partnering with NLFW?
Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for agencies to utilize our resource to assist their clients. As we are a volunteer organization, we are not staffed to be open and available on a daily basis, so we request that agency partners help us to be as effective as possible in serving your clients.
If you have a client whose needs match our resources, we ask that you leave a message with Stephani Mummert (410-771-0053) or click here to send an e-mail to arrange an appointment for the client to visit our warehouse and select any furniture that meets their needs. We also request that the agency confirm that the client has means for getting to our warehouse and transporting furniture to their home.
Each client will need to present an authorization form at the time of visit to our warehouse, signed by a member of your agency’s administration, to confirm that the recipient has been pre-screened regarding their needs. Finally, a liability release form will need to be signed by the client prior to them leaving the warehouse with furniture.
Where does NLFW get furniture?
Our primary source of donations is private members of the community. However, we also actively seek out larger sources of donations such as hotels, furniture stores, assisted living communities, colleges and neighborhood drives to provide a steady stream of furniture to better serve those in need on a consistent basis.
What type of items does NLFW provide?
We accept donations year ‘round that are suited to the needs of our recipients. See the Donation Guidelines link for a full list of items that we do and do not accept from donors. We typically inventory all common household furniture items.
How many items can recipients take from the warehouse?
Because demand (at times) outpaces inventory, we limit the amount of furniture that each person or family is eligible to receive to six (6) large items. Smaller items like kitchenware, lamps and linens are also available and are not counted amongst the larger items. We also ask that recipients and agencies are respectful of others in need by observing a “once-in-a-lifetime” procurement policy and not returning multiple times to take furniture.
Where is the NLFW Warehouse located?
The Warehouse is located at 9520 Deereco Road, Building A, Lutherville-Timonium, 21093; in the Timonium Commerce Park. For directions and hours, click here.
How do I contact NLFW?

A word about our policies:
- All clients MUST have their completed Client Authorization Form with them. No form, no access.
- All NLFW clients MUST arrange their own means of transporting furniture to their homes. NLFW does not deliver furniture under any circumstances. No exceptions.
- We do not hold furniture for anyone. Our inventory is available to pre-screened, qualified clients on a ‘first come, first served’ basis only. We strongly discourage ‘shopper’s’ (i.e. people coming to the warehouse to look first), as we do not have the volunteer bandwidth beyond serving those who arrive at our warehouse with a truck ready to take furniture home.
- Clients may not refer family members or friends; all clients must be referred by our approved agency partners. Multiple family members from different households cannot ‘piggy-back’ on an individual client’s agency referral. Only six (6) items of furniture will be allowed out the door – no matter how many people and vehicles show up. Please inform your clients of this to set the proper expectations up-front.
- We ask that your Case Managers thoroughly familiarize themselves with our policies, how to find our warehouse location in Timonium and specifically relay that information both verbally and in writing to your clients. We do not have the resources to address questions that you can provide answers to and may not be available during open hours to help with directions. We prefer to provide orientation to your Case Managers – at our warehouse or over the phone – rather than taking multiple calls from individual clients.
- Appointments are necessary for all clients on Wednesdays or Saturdays.
