Chris Irwin

Chris’s working career has been entirely with UPS from 1988 to the present.  He started with UPS during college as a loader of delivery trucks, moving into management of operations, and eventually becoming a driver in Baltimore and Westminster.

Born in Wilmington, Delaware, Chris grew up in a family of five and was raised in a Christian household.  During his elementary school years his parents joined a PCA church where his father became an elder.  During his teen years, Chris became a member of The Evangelical Church of Newark, Delaware, and was active in student ministries.

The family moved to Elkton, Maryland, his mother’s home town, when he was a sophomore in high school.  At Elkton High School, Chris played multiple varsity sports which led him to attend college at Towson University for the football program.  He played two years as the starting punter and later worked his way through school for his degree in painting.  While at Towson he became active in Campus Crusade for Christ (CRU) and met his wife, Diane.

During college, Chris attended Grace Fellowship Church when it met in Roland Park Country School’s gymnasium.  He led house churches, discipled house church leaders, started the art gallery, and helped develop a marriage ministry.  He also was part of a church plant in Perry Hall and led the singles ministry there.  Seven plus years ago he came with his family to HVC and became involved in the high school ministry’s Studio Group and later became Facilitator of Discipleship for the Studio ministry.  He has served one term as an elder at HVC.

Chris and his wife Diane have been married for twenty-seven years and are the parents of three girls (Acacia, Shannon, Brittany) and one son (Sean).  Besides walking off packages for deliveries as a UPS driver, Chris enjoys working out and other sports.  He also has been creating paintings and other artwork for sale in local festivals and businesses in the area.
