Below is the schedule/process we will follow in to nominate, examine and install Elders. Please carefully review the process. At the bottom of this page is a link to go to the Role and Qualifications of Elders. Please follow that link.
1. Nominations Deadline (Currently February 26, 2012)
a. Receive nominations from members of Hunt Valley Church. Nomination forms are available at www.huntvalleychurch.org (follow link below) or at the Information Center.
b. A letter will be sent to each person nominated, providing a detailed list of qualifications, an overview of the process leading up to installation, and a questionnaire dealing with Christian experience and involvement at Hunt Valley Church; and requesting two references that will be contacted prior to recommendation by the Session
2. Brief orientation meeting where:
a. Nominees will return their questionnaires and provide references
b. Process leading to election and installation will be discussed in detail and questions answered
c. Nominees begin to interact with current Session members and each other
3. Initial Interviews
Personal interview with each nominee and members of the Session to discuss the appropriateness and timing of the nomination
4. Orientation to: (a 5 meeting process that happens over 5 weeks)
a. Westminster Confession of Faith/Theology
b. Mission, Vision, and Core Values/Philosophy of Ministry
c. Spiritual Leadership
d. Ministry Skills & Practices
e. PCA Church Government/Getting Things Done at HVC
OR: (training when candidates are available)
5. Examination by the Session (a month or so depending on number of candidates)
6. Presentation of Recommended Candidates during Sunday services
7. Congregational Meeting to Elect Candidates
8. Ordination and Installation of New Elders
